Tai ji Quan  (Tai Chi Chuan)

Daniel has been studying martial arts since high school. At 16 years old, he enrolled in Master Young H Kwon’s school of Tang Soo Do (a Korean martial art), eventually earning his 2nd degree black belt before he moved to Los Angeles for graduate school. In college, Daniel majored in East Asian culture and religion and began studying tai chi chuan under Alan Fox and eventually the Cheng Man-ching 37 move Yang style under Dan Lusthaus in Philadelphia. He was also introduced to the Chen form under master Chou Tsunghwa at the Tai Chi Farm.

After moving to Los Angeles for graduate school he studied the full 108 posture Yang style under Dan Lee in Pasadena and eventually became an assistant instructor. Upon earning a Master’s degree in Buddhist philosophy Daniel went to Taiwan for nearly 15 years where he was fortunate to learn Taijiquan under Cheng Man-ching’s senior student, Mr Liu Hsi-heng and Chinese medicine under Dr. Lee Chen-Yu.

Currently, Daniel teaches Cheng Man-Ching style (37 move) taijiquan (tai chi chuan) in the Lake City area. He practices Chinese medicine in the Sodo district of Seattle and teaches at several colleges including the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine and Bastyr University.
